So there I (Jay) was, thinking about how I could possibly get back into running...meanwhile there Chris was wondering what race to attempt next having triumphed at the Sheffield Half Marathon.
"Something you might hate me for..." was the title of the mail that I sent to Chris detailing the Men's Health Survival Run.
Basically it's a 10k run like no other...mainly as it is packed with obstacles. I'm not talking going under chairs, over skipping ropes and then a mad dash with an egg and spoon; we're talking army assault courses, wire bridges over rivers, swims, 10ft walls to climb, a stadium to run through, hills, haybale scramble, cargo nets, tyres, mud, water, turf, tarmac and all manner of other unexpected things.
So on the 18th of October we're trekking up to Edinburgh and we're going to batter ourselves all in the name of helping a darned good charity!
I'm not going to extole the virtues of Macmillan Cancer Care as most of us understand what they're about. If you don't look them up now http://www.macmillan.org.uk/.
Having had a cancer scare myself I know what it feels like to "what if" and having had friends and family diagnosed with various cancers, well, I'm sure we've all been there.
So have a look at the hell Chris and I plan to unleash ourselves upon, dig deep and get giving.
Also, if you fancy helping us afford replacement joints for when we're finished... ;)
First there was Earth and then there was Man. And Man reaped everything he could from our Earth but failed to "give back". And then there came a time of reckoning. And Man began to "give back"... Everything started to Change..... The World is changing. People are changing. And business has changed... Every business you find in our ethical directory is a giving business....giving back to Our Planet by working in the Spirit of Harmony with Earth. ...Every member on Pledging for Change is here because they believe in Giving Back in the Spirit of Harmony with Our Planet
Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can. -- John Wesley, "Letters of John Wesley"
Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centres of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. -- Robert F. Kennedy
