Most insects are harmless to humans and beneficial in nature. Having read the full Black and Yellow Spider post, I think that by naming the spider for your neighbor, you established credibility and made her realize that her instinctive and unthinking reaction was not correct. Changing attitudes is never a small thing -- keep up the good work!
