The dynamo principle or wind up sounds really good to me. I gues the wind farms are the same principle arent they. The wind does the winding up and the electricity is generated from it all.

I dont think the led bulbs have mercury in them..its the flourescent lights that have mercury in them . I'm not 100% sure but .....

I'm a qualified Graphic Designer (BA hons) and Art Director with 20 years experience working for some of the UK's largest ad agencies.
Creative Responsibility
So how does being a designer and helping people promote products and services sit with my passion for the planet ? I feel that all designers, advertising agencies, design groups etc have a part to play in NOT helping companies to promote products that will have a detrimental effect on the planet. That means turning down business, Yes, not good for the bank balance. To give you an example, I was asked to work on some packaging for Unilever !!! I dont think so - Palm Oil, enough said, the agency offering the work didnt expect me to turn them down, I did however sow a seed of hope. I was approached to do a clothing catalogue, on further investigation the clothes were being shipped round the world bought for pennies and sold at a huge profit. Had they been organic cotton and fair trade I would have done the job. It is my dream that we, as creators of persuasive print and advertising can start to push these products or business's out they will cease to exist because they cant market their rubbish around the world or they will look at operating their business in an ethical way. With existing clients I work with them to reduce their packaging, use recycled paper and encourage promotion on the internet. We all have a part to play and I've certainly contributed to land fill in the past, but now we must all work together for a sustainable future for our children and their children.
